OceanPoint Contributes To The Arbella Insurance Foundation’s Let’s Drive Out Hunger Program

OceanPoint Insurance Agency has announced that the business donated $500 to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center as part of the Arbella Insurance Foundation’s Let’s Drive Out Hunger program. Along with OceanPoint Insurance’s donation, the Arbella Insurance Foundation contributed $1,000 to bring the total donation to $1,500.

The Arbella Insurance Foundation has raised more than $130,000 for 89 Hunger Relief Programs Across New England in the last year; and the foundation, in partnership with independent insurance agents, raised $1,207,719 over 11 years.

“In 2017, according to the USDA’s Economic Research Service, 40 million Americans including more than 12 million children were classified as food insecure. In Rhode Island, hunger is more prevalent than it was 10 years ago with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank‘s network of agencies serving 53,000 people each month. All of us at OceanPoint Insurance would like to thank the Arbella Insurance Foundation for making a positive impact in the fight against hunger in New England,” said Doug Mayhew, President, OceanPoint Insurance.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is located at 20 Dr. Marcus F. Wheatland Blvd, Newport, Rhode Island, fights hunger, promotes health, educates young and school-age kids, supports families, and engages seniors all across Newport County, Rhode Island. In 2018, the center assisted 3,654 people throughout Newport County.
