That is why we are thrilled to partner with our parent company, BankNewport, and announce our annual United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) Campaign. Our employees will once again participate in “hands-on” projects to support our community. This year marks BankNewport’s 200th anniversary, and in recognition of this tremendous achievement, we are honoring our Veterans and their families.

Employee volunteers will be working from October 11-31st to ‘lend a hand’ in making:

No-Sew Fleece Blankets
Our employee volunteers are making colorful, warm, no-sew fleece blankets to be donated to Veterans and children of military families. The bright, fringed and knotted blankets will provide warmth and comfort and are a beautiful act of kindness.

Build-A-Teddy-Bear
Nothing relieves stress and brings a smile to one’s face as quickly as a stuffed animal. Our employee volunteers are stuffing cuddly, honey-colored teddy bears along with their best wishes. Veterans, military personnel and families of active duty military can all use a message of kindness, a small but present reminder of the thanks that exists for their service; all conveyed in this precious handmade bear.

These items will be donated to the Rhode Island National Guard Family Assistance Center, Rhode Island Veterans’ Home Community Living Center, and Dare to Dream Ranch, Military Retreat.

A Million Thanks
Our active duty and retired military personnel deserve our gratitude and thanks for working tirelessly to protect our freedom. Our employees are sending messages of support and thanks to active, reserve and veteran military by creating cards of encouragement for our service members.

In honor of its two centuries of philanthropic commitment to Rhode Island, Bank making 200 ‘hyper-local’ donations available to nonprofits and community groups across the state

NEWPORT, R.I. (November 1, 2018) – While much has changed since BankNewport first opened its doors in 1819, its commitment to giving back to the community has not only withstood the test of time, it has deepened with the passing of each year across two centuries.

In honor of BankNewport’s 200thanniversary and its dedication to philanthropy, the Bank today announced the launch of a special “We’re All In” giving program, making $200,000 in charitable grants available to nonprofits and community groups across the state.

Through “We’re All In,” BankNewport is extending 200 ‘hyper-local’ donations, each in the amount of $1,000, in support of community projects geared toward making a positive impact in the lives of residents. Among the types of projects that will be considered for funding are communal vegetable gardens, the beautification of community space, supplies for youth programs and projects, scoreboards for youth sports, in addition to other initiatives.

The program provides BankNewport the unique opportunity to support smaller groups and projects that might not ordinarily qualify for funding based on the Bank’s giving guidelines.

Funding requests for the “We’re All In” giving program may be submitted through an online application or a downloadable PDF application beginning November 1 at https://www.banknewport.com/200.

Eligible applicants must be Rhode Island-based 501c3 or tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. Applications will be reviewed and approved by BankNewport on a rolling basis, and the program will conclude once 200 donations, totaling $200,000, have been approved. Donations will not be considered for individuals without an organizational affiliation; state or local government entities; political activities; parent-teacher organizations; travel or transportation costs for conferences/competition/tournaments; or for entry fees for individuals or teams.
