At OceanPoint Insurance, our agents are always looking for new innovative ways to save you money and enhance your coverage. Did you know that by simply combining two or more policies could save you hundreds annually?

As an independent insurance agency, we represent over 25 insurance companies. We have the ability to shop around for multi-policy discounts, giving you more options for bundled plans. As an added benefit, OceanPoint also has the ability to switch your policies to another carrier, if your current carrier changes their pricing structure.

Combining your policies not only saves you money – it saves you valuable time. Placing all of your policies with OceanPoint means convenience when paying bills and filing a claim. If any questions arise you have one knowledgeable contact at a local agency, rather then a representative who is not familiar with you or your account.

OceanPoint Insurance provides you choices. We are dedicated to your total protection and are committed to treating you as a person, not a policy.

Call OceanPoint Insurance at 401.847.5200 to discuss your options for combining policies.

shutterstock_204144028Over the years, shopping online for the holidays has become increasingly popular for consumers.  However, sharing information over the internet has its potential consequences, as instances of fraud and identity theft have risen accordingly as well.

At OceanPoint Insurance, we want to ensure that your holiday season is enjoyed with as little stress as possible.  Whether you are purchasing gift cards online or shipping gifts right to your door, be sure to follow these important precautions to protect your finances this season:

Gift Cards:

  • Only buy from trusted sources. Gift card resale markets offer gift cards for less than the face value of the card, but not all of them guarantee the stated value. To avoid this potential issue, it’s best to purchase the gift card in-store.
  • Watch for signs of tampering. In the past, thieves could walk into stores and write down the numbers of the gift cards on display. Retailers have prevented against this by placing their cards in a plastic casing. Look for signs of tampering prior to purchasing. If a card is not in a casing, make sure the PIN has not been scratched off.
  • Register your gift card. Some retailers allow gift card holders to register their gift cards and protect the balance in case the card is ever lost or stolen. Not all merchants have this option, but if yours does, it’s a good idea to register the card just in case.

Making Purchases with Your Credit Card:

  • Avoid giving your account number to anyone on the phone unless you’ve made the call to a company you know to be reputable. If you’ve never done business with them before, conduct an online search first for reviews or complaints.
  • Save your receipts so that you can later compare them with your statement.
  • Open your bills promptly or check them online often and reconcile them with the purchases you’ve made.
  • Report any questionable charges to the card issuer.
  • Only order on secure web sites – To ensure your information is protected, look for an unbroken key or padlock at the bottom of your web browser.

Although fraud isn’t entirely preventable, we at OceanPoint Insurance want our policyholders to be as informed as possible in order to avoid fraud this holiday season.  However, if any suspicious activity does occur, be sure to contact your provider immediately.  From all of us at OceanPoint Insurance, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season!

We all need insurance, but with the wide variety of options available and companies to choose from, deciding on which policy is right for you can be over whelming. As an independent insurance agency, we have the ability to offer you rates from multiple insurance companies. We are able to rate prospective insurance applicants using a comparative rater and figure out at what premium you are eligible to purchase insurance.

If you choose one insurance company, the rate they give you is the rate that one company believes you qualify for. OceanPoint has a comparative rating system that allows you to compare the rates of a variety of insurance companies right on our website, so you can choose which company best fits your needs.

No insurance policy is a one-size-fits-all, and you don’t know which company fits best until you explore all your options. To receive a quote for homeowners, auto, or life insurance, visit the quote page of our website and fill out the required form. An agent will then contact you with quotes from multiple insurance carriers based on the information you provided.

At OceanPoint we strive to ensure all of our clients are satisfied with our service, and we continuously look for ways to save you money while offering you superior coverage at competitive rates. With our comparative rating system, you are able to review all of your options from the comfort of your own home, when it is convenient for you.

OceanPoint effectively provides you with a fast and accurate insurance quote. For more information about our quote options, call our office today at 847-5200, or visit the quote page of our website to start comparing rates today.

Selecting the right independent insurance agent to take care of your insurance needs should not be an “eeny, meeny, miny, moe” decision. You are looking for a long-term relationship with someone you can trust. You wouldn’t buy a car without shopping around, and you shouldn’t select an independent agent without doing some research too. So what should you look for?

  1. Know the Difference between Independent Agents and other Insurance Agents.
An independent agent may be a small-business owner who represents a number of different insurance companies. In contrast, agents who represent large, national insurance companies are employees of their company and only sell products from that company. A direct insurance company sells directly to you without an agent, typically online. An independent agent has the opportunity to best match price and coverage for your needs, and if an insurance company is competitive one year but not the next, your independent agent can quote other carriers. That is why they are called independent.
  2. Ask for Referrals.
Referrals from family, friends and colleagues are a good place to start. When you ask around, find out why they like their independent agent. Ask about their customer service and follow- through, if the agent is friendly and knowledgeable. Is their policy reviewed annually?
  3. Decide If Location Is Important to You.
It may be important for you that your independent agent has offices in your community. You have the convenience of being able to stop by to ask questions or help with a claim and develop a trust relationship. Many independent agents are deeply committed to their community and are actively involved as coaches, scout leaders or civic leaders.
  4. Visit Their Websites.
Websites are full of information. Read about the history of the agency, the staff’s bios, their customer testimonials. See if their website provides insurance information and easy access to price quotes, either online or via telephone. Websites can give you a feel for the personality of the agency, what they think is important, and the type of customer service they provide.
  5. Look for Credentials.
A knowledgeable independent agent can provide the advice you need when deciding what coverage and limits you need to protect your family and you. Look for independent agents who have letters next their name on their business card. These represent professional designations, such as Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM). To maintain these credentials, independent agents must take continuing education classes.
  6. Interview the Independent Agents.
You should interview the independent agents you are considering. Personality is important since you should like the agent you are going to work with, potentially for several years. You should feel respect for their knowledge and get a sense about their integrity.
  7. Knowledge and Trust Are Key.
It is not so simple to determine knowledge and trust because these qualities are established over time. But you can start by asking the independent agents you are considering to explain the products they sell and how they determine which products, coverage and limits you need. This will give you a good feel for how the agent does business.

Remember that your relationship with a good independent agent is likely to last a long time, so it pays to take the time to choose the right one for you.

As your independent agent, our job is to help you select the best coverage and limits and with the most competitive premiums from a variety of the insurance companies we represent.
